Another week completed with the Lilliputians, and I am wishing I had a fraction of the energy they expend an any given day. Sometimes as I watch them throughout the day, I wonder if their parents know what they are missing. Maybe that's why some of them are with me (snort) .....But, honestly, over the past seven years, there have only been a few children that I really didn't like. It's easy to love them, but sometimes not so easy to like them! I tell them "Ms Woach always will love you, and sometimes I even like you!" Actually, frequently it's the parents I don't like. Little ones usually reflect what they learn at home. Bad manners are a learned behavior. Rudeness is absorbed from soaking in the petty selfishness's of others. We are all born with a "sin gene", but the way we treat others usually picked up from others around us. I read that a child's character is formed by the age of three. I BELIEVE IT. And I have met some characters! I look at the children in my care and realize that they are all little sinners in need of God's grace. I am a sinner in need of His grace. I am just a redeemed one that has found redemption through Jesus! It's my aim to point these little ones in His direction. Some days it is easier than others -especially if the rabble rousers happen to be absent, and I have gotten a good night's sleep prior to the start of each day! Each day is an adventure, since I never know just what may transpire in the classroom. I never know what one of them might say. I laugh (a lot), I get aggravated, (a lot) and I have even cried (just a few times). but I know that always, ALWAYS, we will learn something! I have learned that often the tots don't want to be there, they don't care about learning, and they certainly don't wish to comply with my expectations! They learn that they have to be there, they just might like learning after all, and they ARE going to comply (eventually- 'cause Ms Woach is bigger than they are and MUCH more stubborn)! They even usually end up having fun in the process. I know that at least I have fun! A three year old can be a hoot AND a little terror, all in one .... a,... a , "hooter", yeah, that's what I'm going to going to call them ! My little hooters... uh, wait , on second thought I guess I better rethink that particular moniker.. Perhaps child/ -imps... "chimps"! ...I seem to be digging a hole here.... but you must understand that a three yr old is in a category of his or her own. What they are, is precious in His sight. Jesus loves the little children of the world... Ms Woach loves them too!
